Hi All, first timer looking for some help with my father-in-laws 2004 CLK320.

He had an SRS Airbag Module Fault on his car, I believe this may have happened during lockdown when the battery went completely flat and was left for quite a while and I understand this can sometimes cause the data on the unit to become corrupt.

I removed the unit and sent off to a specialist place who advised the unit was completely dead and there was nothing they could do with it.

I then took a chance and bought a replacement unit, exact same part number, off a same year/model vehicle and connected up.

As expected, I'm getting an error message of;
B107A - The Codings Of The Vehicle Data in Control Modules N2/7 (restraint systems control module) And N73 (EIS Control Module) are implausible.

I believe this to mean there is a VIN mismatch between the vehicle and the unit but I'm happy to be corrected.

I'm wanting to know if anyone has come across this before and if anyone has had any success clearing this fault.

The advice I'm getting for the various garages I've spoken to is to get a brand new unit and have recoded, which will costs more than my father-in-law would be in a position to pay.

I understand from reading various forums that it is possible to re-code the VIN onto the replacement SRS Module but this has to be done using the MB Xentry Software.

If this is that case, has anyone had success doing this and any information on where I can get this done? Im based in West Yorkshire but happy to travel to get this sorted for him, It's begining to get a bit frustrating :wallbash:

Thanks in advance.

I have rewritten VIN to one W211 SRS which has lost it during power cut. Yes, SDS is your way.

Hi, @mersum1es, many thanks for your reply.

Great news that someones had success with this in the past.

Next question, does anyone know of anywhere hopefully local to Yorkshire with the SDS programme able to reset this?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve not found a way to overwrite a stored VIN in the SRS unit. It is possible to remove the line in the EIS where it does the check though. You’ll need developer mode and google translate if your technical German is not up to scratch.

Hello, I have a similar problem, air bag control unit faulty, & needs replacing. On a 2002 C Class Coupe the repair using new parts is beyond the value of the car , did you manage to find someone that could recode a used control unit / module
