Hi

Can anyone tell me what sensors or faults would cause this?

I know the passenger seat sensor could be the problem, and I can sort this out by changing the sensor if required.

BUT

Are there other sensors or faults, that could cause this light to stay on?

(Interestingly it happened after I let my daughter mess around in the car for a while whilst I was cleaning it, she is 3 and may have climbed on the seats).

Have you had a look under the seat to see if the connector is still plugged in? I think its either a white or yellow connector, cant remember off the top of my head. Do this first. If the connectors under there are plugged in they it maybe the actual seat pad that has stopped working.

hi thanks yes i have checked the plug, tried pulling it in and out a few times.

What I need to know is are there any other sensors apart from the passenger seat one which could cause this fault?

no mate, i too hoped it was only a loose wire, it wasnt, i had to have a new seat sensor, cost around £300 including fitting

Clean that plug and also check it for continuity. It could be a number of different things that can cause the warning light. Normally the wire coming out of the seat pad breaks over time, hence causing the warning. I would say its the pad tats gone.

Where are you? The cheapest and best way to move forward is to take it to good indi with Star and let them read the codes.

The sensor pad is cheap, most of that was labour. If you are handy you can easily change the old pad out and replace with the new one. The seat will have to come out etc. But all in all not a hard job.

thanks guys, so you are all pretty convinced that its the seat sensor?

I can replace that myself, I just wondered if there were other sensors in the steering wheel, or eatbelts that might make this light stay on?

I will strip the old sensor out first, see if I can fix it, I suppose if im lucky it could be a dodgy wire.

If not then I will look for a new or used one to replace it.

Yes you re right, it can be, sometimes the seat belts or steering wheel can cause this fault but theres no way to find out what really is causing it for sure unless it gets plugged into Star to read the codes.

Most of the time it is always the seat sensor hence the presumption.

The first thing you should do is get the fault codes read. This will save money in the long run.

No point in bolting parts on if you are not too sure what is causing the fault.

thats top advice, they told me the fault could only be reset on the star, even after you have changed the sensor

Had a simular problem with my s500L it turned out to be a faulty ECU on the airbag system not a cheap repair !!!

Hi!

(as you can see I have a w203 c220 cdi)

& have a Similar problem!

My SRS light always stays Illuminated, How ever the Airbag Off light Does still go Out!

But I have noticed, If I un-plug the P/Side seat yellow sensor, the Airbag Off light comes on & remains, along with ANOTHER SRS warning light on the Dashboard, Making the total number of SRS Malfunctions x2!

May I also add, that I am sure these mercedes cars are meant to BLEEP at you, If you try driving without wearing your seatbelts, & mine does not, SO maybe its been adpated to make the WARNING sound & lights go away? Causing the SRS light to remain fully Lit?

Just my thinking, & symptoms...

PLEASE HELP THIS NEWBIE!!!

Get it plugged in first.
