I had recently removed my instrument cluster from my w203 and when i went to put it back I am now getting 1 malfunction showing SRS fault please visit workshop!
any ideas of what could have caused it and also a Warning for any one else who decides to do this dodgy task!!!!

I have a W210 and take my cluster out regularly. I have never seen this problem.

The only time I got the SRS warning light on was when I removed the steering wheel. This was fixed by moving the steering wheel between opposite locks a couple of times. (you could try this).

Did you put the key in the ignition too unlock the steering lock so as too turn the wheel slightly to get the cluster out or back in?

YES I DID so u reckon that did it! ANY ONE KNOW any place other than the stealerships to reset it as they would probaby charge a fortue for nothing

Have you tried putting the wheel into complete opposite locks with the engine on ?

will save you money.

Dealer will charge 1/2 hour to reset it prob. maybe even an hour.

I have made this mistake twice now - to my cost. The only way that the SRS fault light can be reset is by a visit to the stealer. If you are a regular customer, they may do it for free - they certainly will reset the fault light during a service visit. Otherwise, expect to pay........

BTW - for the last few months I have seen recurrent adverts for an MB 'service interval reset tool' advertised on e-bay. You can 'buy it now' for about £40. This tool also claims to be able to reset SRS faults.
