I am staggered. Had my renewal through for my E55. It's monstrously expensive! Getting quotes from supposedly specialist companies hasn't made any difference either! Cheapest I can get IS my renewal at £1178 LOL

That is DOUBLE what I was paying for my old M5. I wouldn't mind if I was some boy racer with poor history, but I am a 36 year old married home owner, never been done for speeding and never had a fault claim in my life! No wonder people choose to drive without insurance when people like me are having the piss taken out of them!

Any suggestions of who to try?

Crikey. I assume you've gone through some of the comparison services to get a feel for quite a few suppliers i one go?

Mine has been £500-£600 for year but suddenly jumped to £1100 in this year's renewal.

Price comparison site got me a new supplier for £500.

Ouch.... that doesn't sound right at all

Where abouts do you live some postcodes can be more expensive

Post Code ratings for Car Insurance

From the title I was expecting a thread about wheels :D

As already mentioned plug your details into some price comparison sites.

Apart from postcode things like named drivers, owning (or use of) another vehicle, etc. all make a difference.

I just re-insured the SL for £226 via Comparethemarket.

It's the postcode being unkind to you.

Just to make you feel even worse, I'm paying £339 with Privilege this year.

I would suggest trying Hastings Direct and Tesco as well for something more competitive.

£1178 would make me cry.

To make you feel better, I used to pay 4.5k. Admittedly was ten years younger at the time, but it's mainly the post code as said. Mine's the highest risk area there is, given it starts with an M...

Morocco?

Im a C rated one, as was my old house.

I got quoted £2500 from Performance Direct LOL.

Managed to get it for £570 in the end. I didn't think Hastings would touch modified cars?

Angrydog... Mike??

I remember you from the 5 forum years ago

Ha ha....

I was and still am a moderator on a 5 series forum and Mike had an M5 that he was having trouble with and i tried to help him, also turned up at a meet at Rother valley water park IIRC ??

I have had two lol.

Yeah it was in 2013 when I lived in Sheffield for 3 months lol. Been in the South ever since.

Try Aviva. I did and was staggered at their quote.

Have you tried A Plan for your insurance? They specialise in modified cars but also performance stuff.

I went with them (Flux were too dear) when Privilege decided that enough was enough with the messing about adding power to my taxi and refused to insure me with the latest set of things I did to it, so I had to look round pretty quickly.

FWIW I now pay less than £700 p/a fully comp with Class 1 business use and, most importantly, all mods declared.
