stalling at a standstill

ive owned my merc for about a month now.....to begin with there was a serious stalling problem when the car was at lights etc, it seems to have disapated a wee bit but has not gone entirely, now and again there is a splutter and an 'almost stall' when pulling off after slowing down ....any thoughts?

it is a CLK 230 kompresser,auto, year 2000

MAF sensor on the air intake would be worth checking.

how would i know if its dud....im not the best mechanicaly!

You possibly need to carefully clean the throttle plate/throat assembly with solvent they can get cruded up and stick
