star das hht-win problems

hi evryone im new to the forum and as with most newbies i need some help.
iv got star running on a ibm t30 laptop we beleave that its a genuine multiplexer inherited when we took over the workshop.
it works fine when we use it on later vehicles but when we try using it on older vehicle say 1998 to about 2001 we have a problem every time it tries to launch hht-win the it comes up with the message "communication is cut" please please please can anyone help.

i dont think its that its just that the hht emmulater cant communicate with the vehicle but thanks maybe it needs some settings changed
