I inquired at ckm car design how the pay to access works if I buy a unit they sell and the guy had a fit in email telling I can buy it somewhere else [emoji39]. Terrible business man. But anyway since we have 6 Mercedes cars in the family, I really want to buy one but I am just wondering if you need to be a registered company to access the servers? Thats what Xentry.mercedes-benz.co.uk implies

To access the servers you need access to a genuine Xentry system with an authorised login to the servers. We have two. The last one cost around £10,000.

I believe there is a new pay as you go access? Guy at ckm also agrees but it's unclear what's involved

Yes we have one of those systems. You still have to buy a genuine Xentry system though. From memory its about 10 euros per hour to use it. we rarely use ours.

Between us we already paid £1000 on diagnosis already and there is more to come

What are you trying to do? Is it a one off job or is there a need for regular use?

Legally, I don't think MB will let you buy the set up unless you are a VAT registered business in the trade. There are other avenues but they can't be discussed here. You can diagnose as much as you want 'offline' but to do any coding it needs to go online. As above, it depends on what you are trying to do.

That's what I wanted to know. I am not after a £500 diagnostic.
