I thought all mercs were supposed to have BAS?
car is a my2000 (facelift) CLK320 avantegarde.
Definitely has ESP - which works!
Recently though, the orange light came on and stayed on for an entire journey. A STAR quick test lists the control module, but there's no module number for it, just an exclamation mark. Interrogation just gives the above 'not there' result.
Is ESP/BAS a combined module?
Is it possible to disable it through STAR?
Anyone else 'lost' theirs?
cheers

The BAS is integrated into the ESP control unit. The older cars that had a BAS control unit mounted under the brake master cylinder . If there is a fault with it it will show up in the ESP/traction section on the star quick test.

Great reply! - no BAS module under the master cylinder/servo unit (just an empty-looking bracket...)
Odd that STAR still thinks something should be there though.
Puzzle sorted anyway - many thanks.
