Hi All
Having a few problems with my SL... Brought my self a lap-top with the Star System to assist help out but now the car just wont start !!
Any Technical adivse , or anyone in the romford area can point me in the right dirrection would be a great help.
Thanks
Gary

What did you do with the Star Diagnosis ? Yes, you can make your car not work anymore if you change codings / etc. But there's a thousand reasons why it may not start - what does a QuickTest, followed by clear errors, followed by "try to start" followed by Quicktest show ?

I guess the first thing to try is disconnect both battery ground terminals for 10 minutes (ensure the covers are on the +12v terminals don't touch the +12v terminals).

The problems are?

Where did you bring it from? ;) Sorry, I have a thing about bought and brought. :)

I assume you mean after having problems you have bought a Star system to diagnose these problems?

I'd suggest starting at the beginning, problems, diagnosis etc. and take it from there.
It can be worth lot more than what a good knowledgeable dealer/indy/mechanic will charge just for their expertise so don't always look at the pound note, think how many pound notes you can chuck away chasing things..

Does it turn over?
What are the symptoms?
Having a Star and knowing how to use it takes a good few years.

Hi Chaps.
Thanks for your replies, having a day off today to reflect on what I may have done . Trying to find a good link on how to use the "Star" as I am well out of my depth with this....
The fitter is not free again until midday week hopefully may have some input. Placed both batteries back on this morning , car still wont start but notice while using the main ignition key the drivers seat didn't move... but using the spare key, it does ( last owner per-set the seat perhaps ! ) Just going through checking all fuses for today. and bang my sodding head against a wall.

Hi
No , doesn't turn over.. ignition all lights up and tried both keys but wont start.. !

We get that it doesn't start but does the starter engage and turn over the engine.

Popeye.

Start again (pardon the pun), was this a running car until you plugged in and 'changed something' , or was it dead and you plugged in to bring it back to life ?

We know you are in a bit of a flap mate , so would I be in under these circumstances, but you have BlackC55 on here , now is the time to get your ducks in a row and go through this logically . Start from the very beginning.

On the EIS section on the Star, do you have the "start enable" in the actual value list?

Hi Pete
Just to recap
Car had been running ok.
Sitting in the garage and the front suspension dropped on front o/s.
Looking on this site and on the internet , also spoke to ABC in the Netherlands ( who seem to deal over here ) and everybody was telling me is the Front valve block....so replaced that along with a new front Accumulator. Refilled the system ( being told this self bleeds! ).
Started the car a ran for while topping up the fluid, only one leg failed to go up or down !
Then being told this system needs to be re-calibrated ….and yo will need a Star System to sort that out....
SO...…. I now have a star system and a local chap I know near by ( who runs his own shop in London ) popped over to give me a hand as I didn't what to plug and play on my own ( not my thing ) , plugged in to run a diag and found lots of faults but some may still be on there form day one !... as I have no real history on the car.
Not to sure what the chap did, don't remember trying to clear any faults as we where unsure how / where to go.
Unplugged the Start and...…. car wouldn't turn over / start !!
SO.... Car in now sitting at its lowest setting on the n/s and highest setting on the o/s.. all ignition is on but it wont start.
Basically I am in over my head....

I doubt the Star caused anything if thats the case. Have you done the basics like check the fuses?

I would think that Star would give you plenty of alerts if you were about to do anything to render the vehicle dead.

It is actually hard to do this.

Checked all fuses, only one had blown to the fan... not taken out any relays as yet until I know what I'm doing...

I think you need to bite the bullet and get someone that knows these cars to look at it.

Yes
I make you write that's why I have been asking on this site.... but no joy as yet.

It it showing its in P on the cluster?
