Overview

Model:............C43
Year:..............1998
Mileage:.........35,987 (but will increase as I still use the car)
Tax expires:....March 2012
MOT expires:..December 2012

An enthusiast owned C43 which has some interesting modifications. The supercharger was fitted by Birds and increases the power from 306bhp to 433bhp. Including the wheels, this work cost £15,000.

The car also has a professional Alpine hi-fi installation. This is the only work without receipts but cost an estimated £10,000. If that sounds a lot, bear in mind that the amp alone was £3,000, and the install is extremely tidy - check the alcantara lined boot.

All the major W202 issues are in hand – the body is free of rust, the gearbox has been rebuilt and the expensive brakes were replaced 1500 miles ago.

Modifications

Spirit supercharger (439ps / 433bhp)

Nb. the car covered few miles from 01-04 as it spent much of this time stored with Birds.

Other significant work

Date..........Work undertaken

11/10/99.....Spirit Supercharger conversion by Birds
Unknown....Professional Alpine audio install
05/10/07.....Partial engine rebuild by Birds (due to damage from incorrect ECU remap)
22/01/10.....Gearbox rebuilt (due to water contamination)
06/06/10.....Discs and pads replaced front and back. Air flow sensor replaced.
13/09/10.....Front bumper repainted due to stone chips + other cosmetic work
14/09/10.....New tyres front and back (4 x Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta)

Condition

The bodywork is in very good condition with no dents. The wheels are unmarked.

The interior is also in great shape and reflects the mileage of the car. Everything works with the exception of the parktronic system. Star advises that 2 front sensors are faulty so this will be looked at as part of the 4th May service.

Otherwise, the car wants for nothing.

Running costs

Cheap road tax at £205/year.

Insurance costs me £675/year with the modifications detailed.

Other items

2 Clifford alarm fobs, and all 3 Mercedes keys. All hi-fi remote controls and manuals included.

I have looked after the car with Autoglym products. The car was machine polished with Autoglym Super Resin polish and sealed with Jetseal 109 on 16th April by a professional detailer (Further Reflections Vehicle Detailing).

I have maintained the car regardless of expense - I’ve spent more than £18k over the last 4 and a half years. The car has always been warmed up properly and driven with care.

Located near Roundhay Park, Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Inspections welcome.

Please only serious enquiries and no scams or canvassers.

Nearly....! I just need to shift the Z4.....

sorry mate, the car looks great, but all that money you spent wasn't actually an investment, it was just money spent and you're not going to get much of it back, especially the tuning/hi-fi dosh. That model just isn't desirable except for those on a budget... those with 11 grand will probably be more interested in an W211 E55AMG...good luck anyway

It's not £11k , it's £7.5k ...

The OP isn't the seller , he's just copied someones ad.

That is one tasty ride more so at that price.

as it has been fettled so much makes you wonder if it would bring big bills and only a few garages would touch it. Granted i'm sure it goes like stink and sounds wonderful.

No one will notice that at Warp 9 :D

Need some advice, one of the pictures above shows the air filter box I am trying to establish which model mb this is from as I am wanting to replace the air filter

Any ideas?

( will check with birds tomorrow )

Thanks.

Looks like a C240 M112 V6 air filter box to me

Possibly a CLK 430 airbox, the filter in the box should have a pt. no. written on it which should be able to be cross referenced easily possibly online.
Take the filter out and put up the numbers on it I'm sure someone will be able assist, you could consider fitting a BMC or K&N.

Looks like a standard 4cyl air filter box. If you take the old one out, Euro or MB dealer will be able to match.

Had a reply from Kevin bird the filter is a K&N 33-2703, have ordered a K&N filter cleaning kit.

Thanks for your help guys.
