Static on radio

Hi all.

I have a C200 estate - Avantgarde - 2007

My problem is very annoying - when I turn on the heated rear screen - I get static on my radio.

Turn heater off and radio is fine.

Can anyone please help.

Very common. The aerial is part of the heated rear window. Look carefully and you'll see a couple of elements are isolated from the rest, this is the aerial. You need to examine each element of the HRW for any breaks in continuity, and make sure the earth connection is sound.

If you find any breaks, they can be repaired with conductive silver paint, available from Maplins.
