Statistics for AirMatic Problems W212?

Hello.

I am considering a W212 with AirMatic suspension. Having previously owned a CL, I then had some concerns about the ABC-system used in those vehicles although I never had any problems with that system.

From what I have learned, the AirMatic compressor and the struts are almost equally expenceive and that replacement of the rear struts are complicated since the whole rear part of the car has to come down.

Not a DIY-job... At least not for me...

I heard a lot of horror stories about the ABC-system, but then only people with problem wrote about them in the user forums.

So - are there anyone that perhaps knows if AirMatic problems in newer W212 are common?

FWIW I believe that Airmatic is less troublesome than ABC and less expensive to fix - though still not cheap.

A lot of people use Armott remanufacured struts now - theis US website quotes something like $600 for the fronts and half thet for the rears IIRC. Pumps are $350-ish.

This is for 211's. I think for 212's they're not doing remanufatcured fronts yet.
