Steering/front end knock

Hi,

I have W203, with an annoying knock when i go over manhole covers in the road etc, it sounded like the drop links had gone so i have just replaced these and guess what as usual the knock is still there, i replaced the anti roll bar about 6 months ago.

There is also a bit of play in the steering, a slight knocking can be heard when the engine is off, when the steering wheel is shaken form side to side, it sounds like it on the steering column ie before the rack (hopefully)

Any ideas???

Probably lower ball joints.

Not knowing too much about cars, how much are these to replace and how easy/long will they take to replace, i have a mate who works in a garage he will do them one sat if its not a major job

its an easy job no special tools required, hardest part is cracking the joints as they are really tight.

are these the same as the ball joint above/below in this forum?
