Got the car - 2002 270CDi - a few days ago and noticed this rat-a-tat noise (it's like rain falling on your paintwork) from the steering wheel. When I pull wheel towards me the noise goes away but you can't drive like that all the time. Clearly something is rubbing. Does anyone know how how to sort this as it's very irritating?
Found out what it is – noise is coming from steering wheel/airbag plastic cover. When I lift the plastic up from top of wheel, the clatter disappears. Plastic is obviously rattling so will have to push some bluetack in there or something or perhaps take cover off to investigate further and reseat it.
