i have done this.

if the wheel is the SAME as your current one (same shape etc just wood) then yes, otherwise you will need a new airbag.

my wheel was a newer style one from my old one so i replaced the both.

hope this helps.

Done this on my W202 with no problems...Just remember to disconnect the battery first and let the airbag capacitor drain for 20 mins or so.

Done it as well. I swapped a plastic classic wheel for Syms leather one which he inturn swapped for awooden one!

I also did this. I made the mistake of not disconnecting the battery..... and ended up with a SRS fault light on that had to be reset at the stealer.

i didnt disconnect the battery.... never had any faults as long as you dont change the state of ignition (ie off) before you put the new srs bag in i think.

but i would say to be on the safe side, disconnect the battery!

dunno why i didnt really

on our 210 i managed to get an ESP/ ASR fault up without actually removing any of the plugs.

I personally won't work with explosives at that close a range to my face. The dealer normally swaps out wheels out at £40 a time.

The MB Technician who replaced my wheel & airbag (not whilst on duty !) said no need to disconnect battery, as long as the ignition keys are OUT ! As it turned out, there were no errors, no fault codes, and no explosions !

(I'd still disconnect the battery and wait a while if it was me doing it though !!)

Agree with Sym . Steve did mine without disconnecting the battery.

PS. Steve got thiswheel today for one of his cars. AMG silver and charcoal!!
