Stick-on weights: anyone know how to remove them (without using a hammer and chisel

) ?

Thanks for any help.

my guess would be a solvent - maybe petrol, HG Sticky Stuff Remover or Tardis.

Apply a bit of heat from a hair dryer, then take nylon fishing line and saw back and forth to release the adhesive. :thumb:

Thanks all -- if all else fails, I can still get the chisel out.

Can't be that hard, the Tyre depot's do it daily with no complaint or damage.

My local garage use a blunt knife. The glue is quite weak in peel.

I think the glue used for these weights is a non setting type for ease of removal etc when rebalancing the wheel, as sinewave says, the tyre depots seem to have no problem.

Knife out of the cutlery drawer:D... also handy for changing 13 amp plugs:bannana:

Turned out to be remarkably easy: levered 'em off with a chisel :eek: (protecting rim with credit card) and then the sticky backing peels off.
No probs. :)
But imagine that it could be trickier if the weights have been on a long time.

Even Trickier if you needed to use the credit card after ! :)
