Sticky starting E220 CDI (13)

Hi folks

I have a sticky starting situation on my 2013 E220 CDI

So I jump in and turn the key, the engine appears or sounds like it wants to do maybe a quarter turn, stops, tries again and stops. I go through this cycle a couple of times and it then fires up. Sometimes it just fires right up as per usual.

Any clues ? Crankshaft sensor ? starter motor ? weak battery ?

I have no warning lights and the general health of the battery 'seems' fine. No fading lights etc but maybe just not enough ooomf some days ?

Most likely battery, the cold weather effects the batteries performance and finds it’s weakness.
Put it on overnight charge if you can, but if it’s the original battery then it’s had it.
