My car lost all power again this morning on the way to work. Fortunately I was on a downhill stretch and 2-3 miles away from a roundabout and managed to kick down to 3rd and keep my foot down and a while later it started accelerating again and I had power. Upon arrival at work I had a look at the fuel lines with a work colleague and he agreed that they still contain air which I would imagine is what caused the loss of power.

The 'O' rings were said to be OK when I had the new pre-injector pump fitted last month so not quite sure which direction to go now as i can't afford another big repair bill, but equally need a car that doesn't do this.

help.

Did they change the Orings or just said they look OK? You canno tell just by looking at them, they need to be changed.
Have you look at the tank strainer?

check the o-ring on the pipe going INTO the lift pump - the o-rings are pennies so well worth replacing. you could easily pull the pipes off the top of the main filter and replace these yourself with replacements from MB (or even better Viton replacements).

are the pipes white-ish or dark yellow?

bigyin1 I cannot access the page. Is there any way someone can download the pitutre here? I had similar problem in a pipe coming out of the filter, all my orings were new ish, still bubbles, I finally changed one oring and it sorted the matter, I didn't do it before as as I said my Orings were changed not long ago, not by me so, all OK now :)

Hope this helps!

Check the pre-filter which is easy to do, remove bolt no 50 to release the filter no 26 -

Tank strainer as Oliver mentioned is the next one on the list which will be underneath the tank somewhere, a quick search will reveal a few threads on 'how to'

Recent thread on the w210 but there are other links - http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=64161&page=3
