Undertook my first half decent road trip from Cornwall to the Peak Forest in Derbyshire last weekend and can summarise the driving experience like this:
Trip up, boring as hell, death by weight of traffic, speed control/speed cameras until I hit the Buxton Road, then sweet freedom (I almost shouted it, Braveheart syle).
Trip down, no hold-ups, some interesting cars on the way (eg new Ferrari 812 Superfast, 70's Aston DBS), and in between the usual speed control constraints I drove as I liked, which was liberating and nice.
And look what my vehicle told me when I got home...

MPG MPG

I couldn't quite believe it myself, as I certainly wasn't trying at all to achieve frugal, but I thought it was interesting enough to share with some like-minded MB types like yourselves! :D

Impressive, makes you wonder why bother with a 4 cylinder 2 litre...

Well, for trips to the local tip, for one (the wife's car, that is...)!
