Hi all,

Long shot, but you never know.

My brother-in-law had his 59-plate Mazda 3 turbo stolen of the drive last night at 3am ish, at Aston near J31 M1. They broke into the house for the keys (took every set including ones for the two old Jags) and drove off. The house alarm went off and they saw the car going, accompanied by a Vauxhall Vectra. I'll try to post more details if I can get them.

Anyway, the car is a 59-plate Mazda 3 2.3 Turbo in bright red (very bright) non-metallic, with the standard 18" alloys. Only one set of keys are with it.

Looks like they bumped the door lock into the house - so beware everyone.

Apparently the area has been hit a couple of times recently because other newish good spec motors have been specifically targeted according to the Fuzz.

On the off-chance someone spots something, then please PM me.

Sorry to hear that, thieving barstewards should be strung up by thier nuts. Hope you get some good responses.:thumb:

i'll keep an eye out.

Since Christmas about 10 houses on my round have had a similar thing happen, thankfully only 2 cars have been stolen.

Thanks chaps.

My BIL is pretty peed off as you might expect. My FIL and MIL both own older Jag XJs, and the bar stewards took their keys as well, although not the cars. So no one can get out and about this morning in their household.

An Audi TT went recently, and an attempt was made on a Lamborghini at the same time, apparently. So they are targeting nice motors in that area. I'll post more details if I can.

Having read about bumping of locks I took the precaution of changing my 5 external locks to anti-bump, anti-drill anti-snap and took the opportunity of getting them keyed alike so I only have to carry 1 key instead of 5 (and thumbturn as well!). Got mine from here : Keyed Alike Door Locks, cost about £80. You have to measure and order carefully, but installation is easy.

Commiserations on the robbery - having been burgled ourselves 10 years ago we know how hurtful the intrusion can be.

Nice area and will keep eyes open but chances are that close to the M1 the are day trippers and car likely to be in London or Glasgow by now.

Hope it all works out.

You'd think the myriad ANPR and speed camera systems would be capable of picking out any car put on a stolen list within seconds, but I guess that is probably a flight of wildest fantasy on my part.

We all know those systems are put to much better use than that already.

Correction to details

Mazda 3 2.3 Turbo MPS. Reg no OE57PFV. Not a 59 as I stated originally.

As it happens, the Police do have a camera trace for the car, but so far it's only for yesterday. No trace yet today. Therefore it is probable that the car is sat down a quiet side street awaiting the Tracker cooling-off period.

Added good news from the Police is that the camera trace also came up with a speed camera result on his way home last night, so he's well chuffed about that. Not.

If its got a tracker and still sat in South Yorkshire I'll guarantee you the boys in blue will find it, they are sh*t hot at this and often get called in by neighbouring forces to look for cars so good is their equippment and reputation. If it's got a GPS tracker then Tracker should be able to tell you exactly whereit is.

Marvellous. Stolen car. No keys. 3 points and sixty quid down. Not a good day :(

Sorry about the break in. I always take the key to my 307 upstairs but sometimes forget it donstairs but this has never happened with my E. If any one breaks into my house, they can have the laptop downstairs and the LCD TV if they can move it but thats about all they,ll get downstairs. If u come upstairs and u r thinking of getting they keys to my E, one of us is going to have to go and see our maker cos I swear there will be a lot of blood!

These *******s can work but dont want to work ad wont work. It took me a long time to save up for the deposit for my car and any idiot that thinks he can just take it off me must be ready for a bloody fight. I wish we could bear arms just like in the States and your BIL could have shot the thieving bastar.ds!

Sorry about my rant.

Sorry to hear the bad news...

My keys stay by my bedside every night and my baseball bat sits under the bed.... If any scrote did give it a go I wouldn't hesitate to crack it over his head! My theory is, if you break into my house, you do so at your own risk!

Our keys are right by the door. Its insured and we have a small baby in the house. Last thing i want is some knife wielding smack head coming near my wee one. I could take one i'm sure but two? Not worth the risk for a lump of metal i reckon.

after reading the laast thread on lock bumping , i also changed my locks.

Lets hope they cath the guys, the car of that sort will probably be used in another larger crime, probably be driven around on cloned plates.

Remember that if you have time to get your utensil ready, you have enough time to dial the 5-0....

And thats what the prosecution will use against you if you damage chummy.

Spur of the moment i grabbed my 5 iron from my bag in the hallway and caught him in the face. . . several times my lud.

My lord, it cost me lot of money and thats why I have my tool box which includes hammers and saws under my bed.

6 Cell Maglite works wonders :) You can even use it as a torch too :D
