It's a long shot but please could you keep your eyes open for a white Ford Transit Connect van with Express Autoparts written all over it. The reg number is ********, it was stolen from Kettering at 4:30pm.

Thanks, everyone.

very sorry to hear about this. I hope you get it back. And will look out for anything with Autoexpress on it.

sorry m8. will keep an eye out down here!

James: have you heard anything yet? Found this on another forum; wasn't yours was it (I know he says Sprinter):

Heading east on the A14, just coming up to Kettering about 3.00pm. Noticed a Police helicopter flying low heading west and thought they were just checking for speeders.

Then, on the westbound carrigeway, all hell's breaking loose with what seemed like a dozen rozers forcing a white Sprinter van onto the grass!

Anyone else nearby?

No, no news. The police think it was probably stolen to order by an organised gang.

That other incident, don't know what it was but the A14 was closed for a few hours and they had to get 2 huge cranes in to lift something from the carriageway. Similar thing today on the A43 just off the A14 during evening rush hour, dont know exactly what happened but police were flying about everywhere.

Time to start working from home or emigrate.

Van Recovered!

I have just been to recover the van, it was reported to us by a Travelodge less than 50 miles away because it has been in their car park for over a week. Went to get it and the keys were in the ignition along with a £5 note in the ashtray. totally undamaged and unmarked in any way. :bannana:

I know the Police are very busy, over-stretched and under manned but they have been next to useless over the past week.

@Will, was that you on the M1 this evening? around Jct20 northbound? It looked like your car and it looked like you driving. We ought to have a special wave or sign for fellow members like the masons ( I imagine!) :D

maybe the b******s just wanted a quick free self drive taxi

great news though  :bannana:

Glad to hear you've got it back - none the worse for it's ordeal, and to think they left money too

Were they a set of duplicate keys or your keys, it always amazes that factories fit alarms and immobolisers with all of todays technology yet vehicles still get nicked. I have just been looking at the new Nissan 350Z and they reckon that it is a low group insurance because it is not nickable, time will tell. Regarding the five pound in the ashtray, check it is not a forgery or the coppers will go out of their way to nick you ! (useless t*****s)

The van was stolen with/because the keys were left in the ignition, my driver made it very easy for them! Although it was in a semi-secure area, not on the road as such. I was very worried about the insurance seeing as the keys were in it. Turns out everything is OK, we have learnt a hard lesson though, the times I have told them never to leave keys in the vehicles.

The fiver is OK, police presumed it was one of ours so left it there, it was left in such a way as to suggest 'thanks for the loan'!!!

The thieving b*@£$?~s were seen stealing it by our neighbours, two young lads, just wanted a cheap lift somewhere.

What amazes me is the Travelodge, a strange van was left in their car park, right outside the front doors with the keys in the ignition and it took them a week to phone us.

Brilliant result. Really pleased. I can stop watching transit vans now......theres millions of them!

I reckon you have been looking out for the wrong type of Tranny, it's a Transit Connect, the replacement for the Escort van not the full sized Transit.

No wonder it took a week to find it. :D

But I was looking for one with auto express on it not Van of the month!

But I was looking for one with auto express on it

That wouldn't be much help either, would it?????

The original post said the van was sign written with
EXPRESS AUTOPARTS

Doh! 2 people in the thread who can't read!!!!

Glad to hear it's back! :)

Yeah well the Travelodge probably had some deliveries to make etc so only called when they'd finished using it :)

Our LDV van was also stolen a couple weeks back. They smashed the quarter glass and hotwired it. Was stolen in the middle of the night.
Was found a few days later on the side of the motorway - out of diesel so they must have just abandoned it!
Stupid thing is that the vans worth about £500, cost us about £300 recovery charge etc etc...Not worth claiming on insurance due to excess..

Oh well...
