Stop and help or keep driving?

Shouldn't laugh really, but...

Sounds a bit iffy.
why would the fire brigade remove the roof when they could just as easily removed him through an open door.
Mac.

The screen has definitely been cut by a glass-saw though.
Not many people have access to these.

One of the pictures shows some damage to the boot lid? Looks a bit suspect to me...great story though......if it's true he's lucky if he didn't get sued for moving the casualty in the first place.. .

Just shown this to a neighbour who is a local fireman.....he says that is not the work of the brigade as there is no crush damage to the cuts (that's a saw and they use shears that crush before cutting) and there would be no need to do this damage to take a guy out on a back board.

Very iffy.....

My friendly window cleaner/fireman tells me that they will tend remove doors, roofs or whatever with their toys if there is a risk that an occupant is injured.

Yes, it is a way of cutting down on the risks of inflicting further injury to a casualty but sadly also that of limiting the scope for speculative personal injury litigation.

And it was suggested that should some obviously uninjured twit start going oooh-ahhh-groan and the crew think they have a personal injury try-on claim in mind, then it is just possible that sometimes they will make a very, very special effort in that department :D

I didn't think too deep - more of a read it and laugh, than a prospect buyer! But, if it wasn't as per the story, what DID happen?!!!!!!

Why would you lie?? The damage does fit in with his story!

Anyway could make an interesting project!

Would be useful for kit-car parts or repairs/updates to an existing Jag.

Ugh, 2 litre diesel? Forget what I said ;)

It's clearly and open and shut case.;)

It does look like the work of the Fire Brigade who don't always use shears as they cant always cut through the frame of cars.

I'll only stop and help if i'm in the pick up truck and I can lay the bu**er on the bed. Then they won't have an excuse to cut the roof off. How do you fill out your insurance claim form ??.

i tell you, its not often i know the story but i do here.

My mate Prince Andrew was present at this car chopping session as well.

He gives regional awards to local firms around the country for export. One local firm provides rescue tools from Clan, Webber and a few other companies to fire services across the country. The also import various tools and stuff and make them suitable for UK use.

As a demonstration to HRH, they ask for cars to cut up. They approached Jaguar, as HRH had recently taken delivery of a Jag. In the colour of the one you see. and when he got there, they chopped it up for him.

The car that they chopped however, is the pre production model which they are not allowed to sell on, they crush them. so this one and 2 others, got to spend a day impressing royalty!

It was chopped up by the specialist equipement instructors and not the fire service. if you take one look at the car, you will see, the fire service would have used the doors to extract anyone who could have been in the car. you only chop the roof off is you are unable to gain access to the people inside, or are unable to remove them by other means normally. As far as back pains are concerned, in this case, as described, you would use a KED to remove the person, as the history of the injury is known, ie they walked into the car, they would not have any need to chop the car up., this car was expertly cut up for demostration purposes! you have no reason to cut all 4 doors and the roof off a car to remove a person, even from the back seats. at most here, you would cut off the one rear door and the b pillar, you would have pushed out the front and rear windows and not cut them across, and you would then have taken out the a and c pillars to remove the roof.

And the fire service would have asked permission! they have to inform your insurance company why they did it!

the equipment used on this car came from the US and is battery powered!
It took about 8 mins to get it looking like that!

Anyone wanna guess if i may have been a privilged guest?

am amused to find it for sale tho. it must have been the local recovery firm who took it away that may have passed it on to a breakers.

one thing here is, you will not be able to get a V5 for it when you attempted to make it road worthy. its been scrapped and unless you apply to get a new VIN, which you wont, the DVLA will be round to collect it and crush it for you. they are nice like that. altho they will charge you for doing it! i suspect that this an enterpising youth hoping someone will buy it for the bits that still work in it. it came fully equiped.

whoops. must add, why would the owner prise (typo:- price) open the boot for his personal belonginning. he has a fully functioning car! maybes it was the someone demonstration a lock opening device? or is this ad attempting to suggest the fire and rescue personnel may have been the ones looking for the personal belongings?

You obviously didn't see this link I posted earlier, where exactly the same thing was done to a Police car.
http://www.kingslynntoday.co.uk/View...icleID=1141269

There's also a post on another forum about some guys who drove a friend to hospital, and couldn't get him out of the car. The Paramedics first reaction was to send for the fire brigade to cut the roof off. However they managed to persuade him to get out!

There's a link to your story here http://www.angloco.co.uk/news.asp - but it happened in March 04. The car in question is 54 reg. They're different events. Heck of a co-incidence, though, and the cuts do look like the same equipment as used.

damn, that link didnt work.

you dont think that this car really looks like it was involved in the story attached to it do you? I can assure you it wasn't. there are several of these events and training seminars every year. the ones where the new cars are cut up are better remembered than when old rubbish

try this for the kings Lynn story
