Stop start

Don't do that. Its used to supply various control units as the car starts (aircon, stereo) whilst the main battery is being used to start the car. (and if its flat/dead, you'll get a message on the cluster telling you so, and it doesn't get used)

I believe it is possible to disable stop start properly but it will require re-coding various ECU in the car.

Cheers

Thanks Richard,

Are you saying that if the rear battery fails there is no audio, satnav and aircon until battery is replaced.

Or do you mean when the battery is dead or removed that these systems will only fire up once the engine is running and the starter has disengaged.

When I start my Audi TT with the audio on it will go off while the starter is engaged then come back on again once the engine is running.

If the only adverse effect is a warning light on the dash I will trade that for NO stop/start.

I am at Nottingham, so a long way from you.

I can`t see why I would want these systems running prior to starting the car.
