I've just changed my wheels to Winter's, what should have taken an hour has taken the best part of the day. I got the first two changed no problem, then the third lock nut would not budge. Pretty much tried eveything bearing in mind I was at home, eventually I gave up and looked at the key, one on the round pins had bent and would not locate in the hole meaning the key kept slipping off the nut. Then I was left with two winters and two summer tyres on, eventually I managed to beat the key with a hammer and just about managed to change the winters back.
I went to halfords and bought some new (different) lock nuts, I then went to my local tyre fitter who eventually (about half an hour) got all the lock nuts off and I replaced them with my new ones. He said he'd seen no end of people over the years with this problem and this type of lock nut. So I'm just relaying my expierience and would advise anyone with this type of nut to change it before you get stuck on some lonely country road and can't do something as simple as change a wheel!
