Somebody along our road has a W203 with the bonnet poking over their
driveway. Obviously too much temptation for "an idiot" to twist their bonnet star. I feel compelled to straighten it...but what if it were damaged and I bust it off!?! An E-Class pulled up at the lights with a bent over star...felt like interrupting my crossing and straightening for him.

Anyone else overly uptight too? :thumb:

It feels weird if the star is not right. Was once in a car wash that I have never been since then, when they broke the star wiping the car. I could not drive it like that so rang the closest dealer to check stocks and went and bought one straight away.

I miss my star, a wee blue badge is just a poor substitute....

( had 3 E-classes before the SL )

Dont bother!
One night walking home (slightly p!ssed) I decied to correct the bonnet star of a W210 estate the owner comes running out screaming at me. Only when I got my Keyfob out explaining that I too was a Merc owner did he carm down.

LOL....sounds like something i would do when drunk...:D

But if i was sobber and seen a drunk guy touching my car i would probably want to kill him too:devil:
I washed my car on Sunday and didn't drive it until i left to go to work this morning...i had to stop on the hard shoulder to straighten my star...it just didn't feel right..:)

I know where your coming from..........

It's nice to have fellow OCD'ers. I surprise myself in the amount of time I spend looking at the star. And it's never straight enough, I mean it has to be vertical in the left to right plane of course, but on the front to back plane, should it again be vertical or lean back at a slightly rakish angle? (Never leaning forward).

And how many wifes\girlfriends\partners say 'oh, I never noticed it wasn't straight.'

To an engineer, symmetry is everything.

I'm another one for a "straight star".
In the past, I've walked passed the odd Merc with a wonky star in a car park. I've just had to straighten it, leaving me the object for perculiar looks from strangers and friends alike!

I also once wondered around my Merc Specialists yard and saw a customer's car with a wonky star. It was only after I straightened it that I saw the car had rear end damaged was due to broken
