C250 CDI Coupe
Hi,

Been having some problems with my 2013 model C250cdi coupe with the 7G tronic transmission.

Firstly around a month ago, I left work on a hot day and as I pulled off the car park the car was really jerky at low revs. Lurching quite violently under acceleration from stationary. Kind of kangerooing. Put it into park and gave it some gas which seem to clear the problem. Car was fine for the next 5 minutes until I pulled onto the M6 where it started again. This time it dropped into limp mode and I had to pull into the hard shoulder.

The RAC came out and reported the following codes (I'm listing the full report)...

System Type: ENGINE ELECTRONICS
Name: ENGINE ELECTRONICS
DTC: P0236,Boost pressure sensor
DTC: P2279,Inlet air circuit; Lack of air in inlet circuit
System Type: DRIVER DOOR
Name: DRIVER DOOR
DTC: 9909,Output for actuator motor additional door lock
System Type: PASSENGER DOOR
Name: PASSENGER DOOR
DTC: 9909,Output for actuator motor additional door lock
System Type: XENON LAMP LEFT
Name: XENON LAMP LEFT
DTC: B283F,Xenon lamp right
System Type: DRIVER-SIDE SIGNAL ACQUISITION MODULE
Name: DRIVER-SIDE SIGNAL ACQUISITION MODULE
DTC: B179715,Parking light, front left
DTC: B179B15,Parking light, front right
System Type: STEERING WHEEL ELECTRONICS
Name: STEERING WHEEL ELECTRONICS
DTC: P0579,Cruise control switch

To cut a long story short the car was put on the back of a truck and recovered to my house.

A local chap looked at the issue and changed out the EGR. The car now runs but it just doesn't feel right. Not sure of this is coincidental or another problem but now I get the following...

- When pulling off the M40 the other day the car was shuddering as it pulled away. Then that problem went away and not had it since. It was raining and I had been running at quite high speed until I pulled off the motorway.

- When slowing to a stop the car had really lurch as it drops down into what must be 1st or 2nd gear as I come to a stop. Maybe lurch is the wrong word - more like a sharp jolt.

- The car generally feels like it doesn't change gear at the right time. Was pulling off this evening onto an island, revs went up to around 2000 and then it kind of lurched into the next gear. It wasn't the smooth change the car used to make between gears when I first had it.

In summary, occasionally the car does not change gear smoothly and I'm a bit worried about it. 90% of the time it seems ok but now and then it really lurches between gears when both changing up and down the box. Also the engine seems really rough and noisy as well. In general it has not felt "right" since the EGR was changed.

The car has done around 75,000 miles now and had gear box oil on the last B service. It's coming up for an A service in the next 45 days. Not sure what to do - take it to a main dealer or to a local specialist? I'm in the Birmingham area.

Just hope it doesn't need a new gearbox!

Hi, a long shot but did you get to the bottom of the gearbox trouble? I have been having issues for about a year and some things sound the same but the main dealer wants to fit a new gearbox... thank you

Take your car into Steve@Avantgarde Autos for a second opinion. He is a well respected independent Mercedes technician in your area.

Thank you, I have spoken to them. We are now trying to find out if my main dealer has done something wrong a year ago to cause this now.
