strange sound

i had my MB clk 200 parked, when a strange noice started. the car is RHD and the sound comes from the passanger side. is a clicking sound and i had to disconnect the battery to stop the sound. i can drive the car but the noice is too loud. no malfunction is shown on the dash controls. any ideas????

Where is the sound coming from? Inside or outside?
I'm thinking a a relay from behind the dashboard, in which case it's not engine related as such and you might get better answers in the electrical section.
(up to you or the mod to move this thread if need be)

It's possible that what you're hearing is one of the control rods for the air conditioning flaps flailing about.. They are prone to break and make a clicking noise when the motor tries in vain to move its flap.

If that is what's causing the problem the fix can vary between half an hour with your hand up behind the fascia, up to and including a full dashboard out job.
