Stumbled across this link on Pistonheads...

As it says "racing Department" on the side of the pick up I assume this is actually part of the MB setup?

many very beautiful cars getting some of the best attention they possibly could. wish I had one of those gullwings:cool:

Got to go home early to change my trousers............

That is one of those occasions when you wish you were the guy with the camera. Some fantastic motors there, and I must admit, the first time I have seen a straigh eight engine, the head must weigh a ton, unless it was in two pieces.

wonderful pics

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue…. That racing dept. transporter is period and that is how the race cars got around at the time.
Great pix, thanks!:D

Egad.
Reminds me of Steve Griswold's old shop in Berkeley (CA). He was the Alfa-Romeo dealer, and when they didn't have the proper valve stem shim size in stock, they sent me to his "secret" restoration shop on 7th St off Gilman. There were Mark Donahue's Can-Am Porsche, a few birdcage Maseratis, more racers, and in a separate room, a Ferrari GTO shell with aluminum sheets against one wall, and English wheel between, and fresh body parts in-process going on the car.

I'd really like to have a look around that place.
