How close was the drage race !!!! The CLS 63 AMG has 50%+ more power.....it should have had the 500E for breakfast....

Couple of things .... the aerial is broken on the 500E and the CLS was more than a car length in front after about 2 car lengths had been covered and pulling away hard ...

Suspect it would have been a whitewash on a proper drag strip.

Good video though.

The aerial's not broken !

Look carefully....it's only extended to the lower height using the MB antenna switch.


Anf of course it's mine...who else has an 040 500e in the UK ?

The snow-chain switch is the only way to 'temporarily' disengage ASR....however it auto-activates after it detects differing wheel speeds !

Yes, the Renntech engine in the E would mean only one result...!

That's what i suggested, but also instead of the 500e, use the Hammer 560E...but Autocar is aimed at a wider audience and more people know about the 500e than the Hammer...i guess same applies for CLS.

The CLS was the only Mercedes available at the time of the shoot
