Subtle Mods for a W211 E55AMG

Have you spoken to Acid about headers? They supplied fitted the Gleeman headers on my E55, I think they all come as LHD and need a small indent made to help clear the steering rack. will be cheaper than kleeman direct for sure. The euro charged maps were good on the w211.

Further to the above advice, call Acid at MSL, don't mess around with emails or messaging.
I've heard of emails not being picked up or answered and you'll have a negative opinion of Acid/MSL before you've even done any business with them.
I used to have his mobile# but ask for him on 0121 772 5572

Hi,

I've bought the Kleemann headers and downpipes along with a boost kit from Kleemann. Will then send my ECU to them for programming then fit that with the other mods.

Looking forward to seeing how she goes after that.

Hi,

sent numerous emails and didn't see this message in time :)

Went direct to Claus at Kleemann and got some discount on my headers, downpipes and boost kit.

We'll see how much of a difference it will make to her when all fitted and my ECU tuned.

Glad it’s getting sorted. Are you fitting the parts or do you have someone to do it for you?

Hi there,

Car is currently at P6 Performance near Aberdeen to get all the parts fitted.

I'll get some updates and some clips when i'm back home from offshore.

So absolute disaster!

The garage have called me and the headers are a bag of shite putting it politely,

Both manifold flanges are warped and the he said it looks like Kleemann have then tried to deck them, same goes for some of the welds in other places and internally, he said these look like the China made ones and then Kleemann have just tried to tidy them up, anyway they don't fit and when i contatced the CEO Claus he said they are flexible and just to fit them!

Really scunnered by this as i have already got the ecu tune and boost kit fitted that was meant to go with these.

Looks like i'm going to have to source a second hand standard manifold and fight my case for getting my money back on these!

Any advice please would be greatly appreciated, anyone fitted these before?

I bet they would pull in tight when the bolts are torqued up. I've fitted worse to be honest!
Yeah,

The garage i use don't do welding as such and he uses a guy in a unit next to him.

On further conversations i think the work needing done to fabricate the new onto the old etc is a bit more work than he first thought, so the garage has advised me to take the car to a proper exhaust shop with a ramp and to get them to fit this and to then cut and weld the old one onto it.

So, once i get all the other work done it will be getting booked into somewhere than can do this, bloody pain in the **** tbh.

Sorry to hear your having these issues, I don't know what to say as various reputable places were recommended, the E55 is a tried and tested platform and so many people have modded it; successfully and unsuccessfully in the past.

hope you manage to get a decent place to fit them and I'm sure they will go on fine. its not simple bolt on as they need to be mated, cutback and welded properly. The e55 exhaust is a twin skin quality bit of kit, PITA to mate to single skin headers.

all the best

Morning,

Thanks for the message and thoughts, i've spoke to a few guys now who have installed and mated these up to their E55 now and they had the exact same issues etc but have had no issues once done.

I'm absolutely sure now the welder/fabricator guy my garage uses just doesn't fancy the work to be honest.

So i will find someone who can.

Thanks

I think they would pull up, you could get a thick plate and drill 8 holes in then bolt it up to see if Claus is right.
Spoke to Claus further and he said they don't need anything more than mated up and bolted in place with the OEM gasket he supplied, done this thousands of times down the years and just done a set last week on one with no issues once installed.

Finally have my Kleemann short headers and downpipe adapter kit fitted, i didn't know i also have a red delete and an x-pipe installed. A nice really deep burble at idle but bloody jesus she sounds like an oldschool American muscle car over 2k revs :-) I just need to get my crank pulley, Johnsons cm30 ic pump and K&N filters to suit the Kleemann ECU tune to get the full benfit of the mods. Hopefully have them all fitted next week. I'll get some pics and vids once completed.
