What is a suitable disinfectant which will not damage my car steering wheel etc?

My car is going in for some work and I will need to suitably clean it on its return (you can’t be too careful).....

Will 70% alcohol spray damage the leather steering wheel? I assume it will?

I suppose I could give the surfaces a good wipe down with soapy water or wet wipes and then dry.

Baby wipes or the likes, cleans it nice too

I used alco hand gel when I got my car back a couple of days ago. I gelled my hands, the key, the door pull, stalks transmission selector etc. None of it has fell apart yet but I put personal safety above trim appearance. You can't be too careful indeed.

True but seeing as the virus only has a finite lifespan out of a host - I would prefer to use another car for a few days than inflict permanent damages to the trims :)

Unfortunately I had to get home from the garage. I understand the virus can live for up to 28 days but I could be wrong. I don't think baby wipes would do any good at all personally.

Could you wrap any contact points in cling film then wipe them down with an antiseptic before removing the wrap wearing gloves ?

May be overkill but cannot be too safe .....

Don’t forget the gearstick, the door handle, the interior door card, the seat...

I just googled that and a minimum 60% alcohol required to kill the little devils. Trim on car is fine btw

Just wipe / gel / wash your hands after driving ........ and don't touch your face while driving? Mine is in for MOT next week. Virus could be on your door handles (in and out), seats, gear knob, switchs, window buttons, keys etc etc - I'm not going to overthink it.....

Understandable

With the best will in the world there are plenty of antibacterial gels/wipes etc , but none of them kill coronavirus do they?

60% Alcohol Content Required

That’s a great idea - I’ll look into disposable seat cover/steering wheel cover/ something over the gearshift etc...

Maybe I should get some moonshine , should be strong enough. ( damned near killed me forty years ago when I tried it).

Remember to sanitise your mobile phones...

The amount of pathogens your phone screen can carry is alarming - if you don’t believe me then feel free to do some research. :)

I hate to think what would be on those McD's / Burger King touch screens at the services. It never feels right touching them just before eating with your fingers!

My worst is the remote control in hotel rooms.
