Does anyone have a suitcase generator they no longer require?
I have a 2.3kv 4 stroke generator atm, but is too big to keep lugging aroud.
Not really bothered about the output, as it's only to run a tv in the caravan.

Would you be better off with a battery and an inverter?

How big's the TV? We use a 10 or 11" Freeview one in our caravan and it uses very little power - we've been away for 11 consecutive nights without flattening the battery (115 Ah), and that included charging phones as well as the normal lights, water pump etc.

I do take a spare battery 'just in case' when we're away for a week or more, but we've never had to use it. Except once to jump start our vehicle!

Why not get a solar panel, at about 20 watts, it would keep your battery topped up nicely.

The tv is only a 19" lcd and although it runs off of 12v, there is not enough current there to work it from the battery:doh:
You get sound, but no picture if run straight from a battery. I have had it working from a cigarette lighter, but had to have my car on fast idle to do this. I have a 1500w inverter, brand new, but it flattens the battery too quickly.
Genny will also be used for tyre warmers, which is another reason for getting one.
