Anyone know how to reset the sunroof closure when you hold down the lock key? It does'nt work with either key and both have new batteries.

Im always getting out of the car lately and leaving the roof tilted,I hold the lock button down and nothing..then i have to take the steering lock off before I turn on the ignition to close the roof or the lock digs into the seat when the steering coloumn comes down.I say chaps its becoming most annoying:rolleyes:

Ive allready reset the roof and windows by closing and holding the button for 5 secs but it still wont work:(

You push forward the sunroof open/close button forward and hold there for about 30 sec. Worked for me.

One can make better use of most of the 30 seconds. A couple of seconds should be enough (2 to 3 seconds). :) The principle anyway is this if the sunroof has lost its synchronisation.

Does the C-class have IR sensors on both doors? If the issue isn't about sunroof sync, it could be the IR receiver at the door (I think W211 cars have sometimes had this issue). The owner could try both doors if both have sensors.

Well I just went out to try holding it for 30 seconds but before I did I held the open button down and all the windows and roof opened, then held the lock button down and they all closed. So it seems its sorted itself out.

Sounds a bit strange. I missed the point from your first message that you actually had already synchronised the sunroof but was it only the sunroof that did not close previously or was it the same with the windows (or did you always have the sunroof only open?)?

Intermittent issues unfortunately tend to reappear. Hopefully it wasn't a bad IR sensor at the door handle. I guess you did first lock the doors and after that pressed the key button again to close the sunroof/windows? Also you did not seem to confirm to mr.shr that you do point the IR receiver at the door handle with your key because this feature does not work over radio (RF).

Windows are always up,its just the roof I forget to shut.

Yep I was pointing the fob at the door sensor, only 1m away so range wasnt an issue.

Just tried it again with the windows up and the roof shuts. Then opened the windows and the roof all together.

Sorted then! One of those wonderful 'one off' moments we all seem to get.

Well, I don't think these are always one off moments. Quite often there is a sensible explanation but it may take time to figure it out. This is why I'm not completely happy if the problem is gone if we did not learn anything about it.

But the owner did seem to do everything right, hopefully this was a one off moment instead of a sensor starting to fail or something like that.
