Sunroof.

Hi. One of the plastic clips that the sunroof glass it attached to has broken has any one on here had this trouble and is it an easy fix ? Car is C Class W205. Thank you.

Hi

Have you checked if the sunroof is part of the worldwide safety recall ? Most owners get the letter (I got 2) It affected 750 000 MB cars over quite a few years. Worth a check while yo search for the part.

Hi many thanks for your reply, I don't know what "the worldwide safety recall " is but looking on ebay the clips are available at various prices, and qualities. I shall go down to the "Main Stealers" shortly to see if they will supply them at a reasonable cost (more chance of making love to princess Anne tomorrow night) Watch this space.

You have a W203, did recall also cover cars W202, W210, W208??

You will have to Google it , it covers so many models over many years , my guess is they all were fitted with the same cassette type sunroof . The recall is because one came loose in the USA and ended up in the road.

I am probably the 5th owner of my car and I received the letter (twice) , that would suggest that MB have been pretty thorough in contacting owners who might be affected .

I asked an MB service departments what is involved in checking and got different answers (I don't think they were interested) one said they just do a visual check (?) and one said suckers were attached to the glass and an attempt would be made to dislodge the sunroof !!

I have left mine well alone for now , I will get it done when I get more info.

My car is 2006 . Pretty sure it was the glass cassette type.

Been to "Main Stealers" they do not supply the plastic slider clip for the sun roof, you have to buy the whole rail approx £240. Per side. The plastic "A" shaped bit's on ebay are not very good, it seems you have to remove the rails to fit them which is a real pita. However I have come across this site.

Just done this job, I found it very easy and straight forward using the sliders from France. Although they were a bit on the dear side they did the job just as described in the video. I can highly recommend them.

Just want to add, the hardest part of this job was breaking out the slider from the near side. I say "Hardest" but it was easy really. On my roof only the off side was broken, so I took the roof off which was an easy job with Two people, ( video on you tube) just to make it easier to get the old slider out. PS. Don't buy the cheap copies on line, I think you have to remove the rails to install them, plus I think the quality is iffy.
