Hello gents, have had my C63 a while now and just put a deposit down to get a supercharger fitted at MSL in the new year along with a couple of other bits and bobs, are there any other owners with a similar set up here, it would be good to hear your experience? Cheers

Lee was one of the first in the U.K. with a charger on a W204 C63. Haven’t seen or heard from him for some while though.

@sirius9 has an ESS supercharger successfully running on his saloon. There's quite a few on the C63 AMG UK Facebook group.

Have you gone for Weistec if it's MSL?

Yes going the Weistec route, and had seen some threads from Lee when doing some research, just wondered if there were any others or active users I could learn from. I think I will have a similar setup to Lee initially except I am not going for headers yet. I am however getting the head bolts changed for Weistec studs (more for peace of mind than anything, just had an oil analysis done and no trace of coolant or water mixing) along with SLS buckets and Weistec camshaft caps and phaser bolts.

Go with the black series sls hydraulic lifters, not the stock sls ones. BS has larger than stock internal chamber for better oil retention. It's also cheaper to get the lifters direct from mb dealer. Weistec charge an arm and a leg for the same components. I paid something like £880 from mb, Weistec wanted around $2099, which is around £1500ish excluding export and taxes.

Also consider our friends from 63motorsport, they are specialists in camshaft adjuster plates, skelton componets, phaser bolts. Our guru Tasos engine builder has used their components 👍

Thanks for that, unfortunately I've already put a decent chunk of money down in order for MSL to order the parts so probably too late for any changes. I'm paying £4k fitted for new head gaskets, head studs, SLS lifters, camshaft phaser bolts and camshaft cap bolts along with an oil change.

I run ESS tuning supercharger kit, with IPE headers. One of the loudest, if not the LOUDEST and dare i say nicest sounding C63 in UK 😝

Nice. Are you running stock injectors and cooling setup? Interested to see that you have kept the engine cover, I was under the impression the "V" section (not the airboxes) would be removed to accommodate the charger - perhaps a different between the ESS + Weistec kits? Have you had yours dynoed? How do you find the fuel economy now (not that I'm overly concerned about that, just intrigued!!). Many thanks

ESS Tuning kit is different design from the Weistec kit. It allows the 'V' engine cover placement, making it OEM plus look.
Design of the charger kit is slightly different, in that the intercooler for the charger is on the top, rather than sandwiched between the charger turbine and the engine. Hence cooling is better.

ESS tuning also uses the 2.9L Whipple, which is equivalent to the Stage 3 Weistec.

Stage 1 & 2 Weistec uses 2.3L Whipple, so runs higher boost and generate loads more heat.

ESS tuning tune is very conservative with torque low end to protect transmission. But top end is great and more linear.
Compared to Stage 2 Weistec, ESS tuning cars may lose on 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile times but more than make up at 1/2mile onwards.

Mine runs 705bhp on a dyno dynamics roller, which should be equivalent to 730 ish on dynojet.

ESS kit comes with bigger injectors. 550cc ones. ESS cooling is top notch, no issues whatsoever.

Fuel economy is about 10mpg on happy days and between 15-17mpg on boring days.

A-Plan Thatcham has been the insurance broker I go to for the last few years.

Thanks for that. I will be in a similar situation with regard to miles, and have around 15 years NCB, so hopefully they can help
