Supercharger bearing or clutch

Excuse my ignorance but when the engine is cold, very cold and I flash it up, there is a loud clicking / metallic 'catching' sound coming from the vicinity of the supercharger pulley / tensioner area. After the engine gets hot (not warm) the sound goes. Tensioner or supercharger bearing?
As an aside too - if I accelerate quickly and the supercharger clutch spins up to engage, there is a 'peeping' noise (like a budgie!) for a fraction of a second as she engages. Might the two be connected?

Your opinions gratefully appreciated - as ever.

Someone with more knowledge may help on your exact problem, but don't worry about the "peep" or chirp. Perfectly normal when the supercharge clutch engages. Some Kompressor s/c chirps are louder than others.

Just to say the supercharger doesn't engage at start-up

Good news about the 'chirp' sound. Thanks AMG.

White - I realise it doesn't engage until the charger speeds up but could the mechanism be the culprit?

It could,as part spins up with the engine but I'd check the tensioner/idler pulleys first.
