Quietly motoring along the M8 when the car wallowed like a drunken whale as it crossed a joint in the road, I pulled over to take a look if I had a flat, no but the rear of the car was covered in sprayed fluid. A quick look under the back end confirmed the shock absorber part of the Air strut had popped a big leak. Got back in and drove on more gently as the car did not like bumps or undulations in the surface, 10 miles later and a knocking sound from the rear, a quick look confirmed the full external valve body had detached and was waiving around hanging on the cable. Interestingly it tucked nicely into the lower suspension leg for the last 2 miles home.
Home safely and now the challenge to select a course of action, what to fit, DIY or garage, all the fun of 14 year old car ownership, hay ho!
