I was offered by my good friend his black 52 plate 745il-over loaded we can say.He got himself newer post 06 plate one.4500K he wants and the car is mint, all gearbox issues dealt with, etc.
My 1998 S500L with lpg got already a buyer for 1500 quid - cheap, ask for more??
Shall I go for it???
Always wanted to try bmw. Also can have the car for a weekend to see how I like it.Reasonable would think.

That's too cheap for the S500L - remember the engine size, that it's a late W140, that it has LPG and that it's LWB. Mileage?

Way too cheap

But stick with the W140 - better than any new S-class

I think will stay with my w140
It takes me 47£ to fill up and would do 200 miles in a town only-cheap and compfy
Car is well taken care of no issues at all.
It would be a steal for anyone.
Bored a bit maybe but got a set of amg wheels for it for summer.Once on will cheer me up :)

47£ is cheap for a 500 mate. defo keep it shes a beauty! and if there arent any issues its defo woth keeping! a set of AMG's will transform it for the better :D

The fourth one would do, but the rear door's looong!

those 7 series are very complex and the parts prices will quite often write these cars off for having simple faults.

Yep done some research and that will put me off - scary what I read lol
Never on mercs - thanx God

Agreed. I had a 730d a few years back and although in some ways it was a lovely car, it was plagued with silly electrical gremlins that drove me insane and emptied my wallet nicely. Most ridiculous of all was the electric steering column that would never do anything except put the steering to the highest position. No amount of tinkering by the dealer could make it work properly. Madness.

i had a 2003 7 series when it was new. great car. you wont regret it if its a good one. 2002 MY was 1st year of production so they had lots of gremlins but i suspect all will be known by now

mine was under warranty when i had it so i just took it back to the dealer for any repairs, which there wernt many.

biggest i had was the radar cruise (distronic) which the sensor broke. £2600 for the repair. The electric handbrake went too. idrive screen occasionally corrupted but hardly ever happened so BMW never admitted any faults. no other problems as far as i remember with it.

in a word, go for it. a 2002 car should be cheap as cheaps for the amount of motor it provides now.

beware of the talk "it has everything". a lot of things that sound extras were standard on the E65. For a really top spec model then you want it to have the comfort seat package, rear entertainment system, Logic7 surroundsound, radar cruise, heated steering wheel etc etc.... you see a lot of garages stating these are high spec when actually they are poverty spec for a 7 series.

£1500 maybe a little cheap for the W140 with LPG unless its a rust bucket, value all depends on condition.
