Symptoms??

Looking to canvas some opinion here.

I have a worn track rod end, but following a discussion with a bloke at work he seems to think that there should be some movememnt where this part attaches to the wheel.

Personally I think that is rubbish given that it is a key part of the steering!! Back me up and humour me - what other symptoms would you have if the track rod end was worn? I have a few things I want to be able to tick off as evidence it needs replaced.

Sitting watching Wheeler dealers and they are doing up a 190E Cosworth '87 model. Funnily enough it also needs a track rod replacement and the scrubbing and movement match my car so that is enough for me to suggest that a replacement is in order. Think I can cope with the £20 for replacement parts for that - oh that and the pint for the mechanic up at Farmer autocare up the road!!!
