Was looking for some advice as to getting my contacts from my iPhone to sync with my Bluetooth phone set up on my 2009 C Class.
The phone has connected ok and I can receive calls ok and make them so long as I type in the number. Just wont let me access my contact list. Any help on this matter much appreciated.
Cheers
Wayne.

You need to import them as business cards from a PCMCIA card. Export them from whatever your phone syncs to (i've assumed they do sync to a PC / Mac somewhere)

Its a painful system with the generation of COMAND you have. if you had phone pre-wire you can buy a phone cradle and then import them via that.

Thanks Richard.
My C Class doesn't have COMAND. it's the standard audio system etc. Will that make a difference?
So, by the sound of things it's simply a case of transferring my contacts to my MacBook, connecting my MacBook to my car via Bluetooth then transferring my contacts from Mac to car?

I've only ever done this on COMAND, where you export from the macbook in vCard format onto a PCMCIA card, and then import from that.

I would expect that an import into an Audio-20 over Bluetooth is unlikely to work - and of course the Audio-20 has no PCMCIA slot to import from - so you may be stuffed :-( (without adding comfort phone and a bluetooth adapter / cradle which is an expensive outing)

OK, so this is what I have managed to learn from this.

1. It isn't that easy, but is possible!
2. You will need the contacts from your iPhone in vCard format, the best way to do this is get the free app MC Backup This will allow you to email an archive of all your contacts to yourself.
3. Now you have your contacts you have 3 options:
a)If you have COMAND you can use the PCMCIA slot as Richard details above.
b)Transfer then to another bluetooth phone and then link that to the car to transfer the contacts.
c)Link a bluetooth enabled laptop to the car and choose "send file" select the contacts backup file and then select the car as the bluetooth device. Note - I didn't have much luck with this on my Dell laptop, but I understand people have succeeded. I will try with my Macbook tonight and post my findings.

A quick update on this (hopefully this helps someone!):

After much fiddling I managed to pair my Macbook with MB Bluetooth. Part of the problem was telling my Mac that it needed a passcode. For those trying there is a button that appears in the "Bluetooth Setup Assistant" called "Passcode Options". Click on this and choose your passcode. You then need to set the MB Bluetooth to receive business card. The next step is sending contacts archive the file via bluetooth to MB Bluetooth.

Everything seemed to be going swimmingly, the bluetooth connection was made, the file was sending.....But no contacts....

I can only assume that it was because all the contacts were grouped as an archive in a .vcf file not individual .vcard files? My next step is to separate them out and try again.

I will update with my findings.....

OK, so I finally got this to work. The contacts need to be in separate .vcf files and not a group. I did this by importing them into contacts and then dragging the contacts individually one by one to a folder. These contacts can then be set as a group over bluetooth to MB Bluetooth.

Hope this helps someone!
