Can anyone give me the measurements (document or from measuring your own car) on badle placement e.g. C250d on the tailgate of a W205 estate, please? The C250d I'm buying has been debadged so fitting a new badge and want to get placement 100% otherwise it'll drive me nuts! And don't worry, I'm not sticking any AMG badges on it!!

When I’ve bought these before they normally come with a framework around the badges to help locate and position.

Can’t really describe it anymore than that but when you get the badges you’ll see what I mean!

Managed to do a picture just as rain started
Bottom off badge 22mm above chrome. 62mm from the top of the d to the edge of the paint and 31 from the left hand edge. Sorry about poor pictures but it’s now raining very hard so cannot retake them

Farmer boy you’re a hero!

Could you also measure the gap between the ‘C’ and the ‘2’ please?

....and also the distance of how high up the 'C' sits from the panel edge, please - unless it's also 22mm? Perhaps it's an illusion but it looks like the badge doesn't follow the line of the panel edge.

Will measure tomorrow.

Looking at the picture the curve of the door gives the illusion that the C is higher than the d but the whole line of letters are 22mm above the chrome strip.

In the past when I have reapplied the lettering to card it comes attached to a clear carrier strip to ensure easy accurate fitting you just pull the backing off align the strip and press down. Make sure you delay the area for the lettering Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) does a good job just don’t use nail varnish remover as it may damage the paintwork.

If they are original badges they will be curved on the card they come on not straight as to follow the curve of the boot

I know it's not the same badge but shows how the come

From the edge of tailgate to C 32mm, C-2 12mm, 2-5 5mm, 5-0 6mm and 0-d 9mm
The base of each character is 22mm up from the chrome strip.

A fresh badge on its carrier strip will be correctly spaced. Dewax the area apply a strip of masking tape to align the bottom ( I have 24mm tape in my collection of bits so it would overlap the chrome strip by 2mm). Apply a strip of masking tape so its edge is 32mm from the centre of the left side of the C and your areas all marked out. The C curved so to be factory finish the alignment needs to be its mid point.

If you are reusing an old badge without sticky on the back look on eBay for 3M double sided tape. Cut the tape to fit the back of the characters . Once stuck with this they will stay on. To remove characters I have used dental floss to cut through the sticky tape then tar solvent/ Isopropyl alcohol to clean off the gum residue.
Have fun a simple job but most rewarding when you get it spot on.

Fantastic-thanks for the info.
