Tailgate Chrome Moulding

Hi all, I have an S212 E Class Estate, someone’s damaged my chrome moulding on the tailgate above number plate. Can anyone advise if the chrome moulding can be removed on its own without disturbing all the workings on the tailgate.

Welcome, not sure about the estate, but on the 2011, c207 E class coupe it does come off, I've painted mine Black, I used plastic levers to gently lever it of, I broke one clip, which didn't really matter, as it's also stuck on with 2 sided tape at the top, but like I say not sure about the estate.

Pretty sure it will be easily removeable as, when comand.co.uk fitted the reversing camera to my S204 they removed the trim piece and replaced it with one that has the small cut-out for the camera - and gave me the original!
