Take delivery or wait?

it was ordered at the beginning of March so nearly 6 months, it's a company car but could be told when i must have it. The dealer is going to buzz me when they get it :)

Ah - seems you must've got one of the last available. I went for this option too but dealer came back to me and told me MB had withdrawn it as an option :(

Hi, that was strange, I saw your post and asked my sales person and he said no shortage as far as he knew, no availiblity problems.

Perhaps it was something about the combination you ordered? Sorry you couldn't get them.

I am intrigued I have never had a seat with air cushions before.

Hi P,

I got very carried away with the options!

Wanted the E Class estate as i've got 2 young children with scooters, bikes etc.

Went the amg night edition premium plus in hyacinth red.

Initially ordered the 350 diesel but as i only do around 5,000 miles per year decided that the 250 petrol was probably the more sensible choice. Would've snapped up a v6 if they were offering though!
Only wish i had a slightly more powerful engine.

As for options i went for
Airmatic - so air all round.
Drivers assistance pack (last minute decision as you know!)
360 camera
Privacy glass

Taken a bit of a risk as no 250 petrols locally for me to try.
Also, other than getting taken out in a S63 amg i've not experienced an e class with air all round. Mixed views on this - especially with owning one outside warranty - so another risk. But hopefully it'll be fine.

Bit of a change to a few months ago when i set out to buy a 2-3 year old A6 or e class estate. But i believe i got a good deal and now also the new car warranty to put my mind at rest.

Enjoy it when it arrives!

Hi
Wow very good!
Ah yes the E class should be a great choice then lots of space.

Wow that’s a very nice car you have ordered there, and I think the hyacinth red will be very unique. Congratulations.

5,000 miles hey, it will take a while to complete the run in procedure then. :-) Perhaps a road trip is in order in honour of the new car :-)

Ah ok I wonder if that’s why you could’t get the 405 Multi Contour seats, perhaps the combination of the 250 petrol engine and the red, however yours sounds like a factory build too so maybe not.

I was considering the Airmatic, in the end I concluded just on the back would be fine. Hopefully that will reduce motion sickness for the kids! I had the same worry about reliability, I am sure it will work out well, I think its quite a proven technology. For me the E Class will be such a step up in rid comfort I and sure I will be blown away.

Last night I was reading the online manual about the 360 degree camera and concluded I would just try it when I arrive! I was trying to figure out if I could just get it to act like normal reversing camera.

Re not driving a 250, I didn’t even take one test drive, I was won over by the technology, lights and driver assistance pack.

Ah yes but with the round out discounts I think you have made a wise choice buying new and if you choose to you can extend the Mercedes Warranty I believe.

Will you take out the service plan, I am thinking I definitely well.

oh I will, I wish you and your family many happy and safe miles.

Cheers p

Hi P. Sorry for delayed response - just got back from a holiday
Wrt service plan. Yes, i think i'll probably take out the 4 year service plan at £30/month.
Probably not the best financial decision as local indy services are much cheaper, but hopefully if anything goes wrong slightly out of warranty the dealership may provide some kind of goodwill gesture. Although saying that, savings from indy would probably cover any out of warranty mishaps!
I just need to find out if they offer free loan cars whilst my car is getting serviced.

Hi,

Just been informed that my new car will be arriving on August 28th.

In a bit of dilemma now:
(a) Do I rush down to pick it up when it arrives and have the August bank holiday to enjoy it.
(b) Do I wait until September to collect - I'm assuming it then gets registered as a 2016 plate car.

What would you do?
you would have to wait untill march to be a 2016 plate ,,,,, 15 plate 65 plate would not bother me but most think wait ,,, if it was the diffrence between 65 and 16 plate then I would wait for sure

Hi Harvin,
Thanks for the feedback, hope you enjoyed your holiday, I think I will do the same as you. Sounds like a good approach!
Thanks p
