My S202 is lovely but a little scabby here and there. Grinding the rust away is the answer to getting it ready to repair but then comes the debate about etch primer, bondaprimer or anything else. I've had another idea. I fix watches and often give them a bit of replating. I can nickel plate a very (very) thin coat of nickel over the steel once it is scrupulously clean, using a pen plater. It is not a durable coating, regarding rubbing but it does impart a corrosion barrier to the rubbishy steel that made an MB cheap enough for me to own.
Any thoughts on that anybody?

Give it a go,you could always experiment with some steel and leave it out
in the elements and see what happens.
