The car came to a stop few weeks ago, fuel starvation, here is what was in the tank, this car, to my knowledge, was only run on diesel for 120,000 milres.
This is a wee spooky, not for the fainted heart :p

yup. whatevr people say, its the diesel that the veg is cleaning off the sides of the tank.

after 800 miles i checked my new-to-me W124's strainer - it was a little black but nothing like that and not clogged. my other w124 looked like that when i 1st got it in 2008. Strainer was checked a few months ago after 100% WVO and SVO since then (hardly any diesel) - tank strainer clean as a whistle.

its the diesel.

That will be bacteria, you can get products that you add to the tank to stop it happening again.
