I have always assosicated tar spots on the car bodywork with summer motoring and melting road surfaces. However the last few weeks of freezing weather and both my cars are covered in the stuff:(
The lower flanks of the dark coloured ML feel like sandpaper and the spots are quite visible on the silver CLS. Is this where where the contents of all those pot holes are going?
Have I just not being paying attention before or have tar spots always been as big a problem in winter as in summer?:dk:

There's certainly an awful lot of road debris flying about at the moment. My C-Class has collected more stone chips in the last couple of weeks than it had in the preceeding two years

Since the beginning of January I've managed to collect a stone chip on the screen that needed a repair, and several other small marks that don't. The bonnet has also collected a couple of chips - one the biggest on the car - in the last week. So, if the potholes don't do for your wheels & tyres, the debris from them will do for your screen and paintwork. Grrrrrr...

Some of the roads here are very bad, I have wrote to my local MP to ask for improvements and re-surfacing. I suggest everyone does the same to make themselves heard.
