Those with an EV where the VED is up for renewal after April 1st... Tax your car again now to change the date. I've just brought mine forward by 2 months but it'll get me another 10 months at £0. Had I waited until April, I'd have had to pay £195...

I didn't want to risk waiting until March to do it, just in case it applied it from my current end date. By doing it now, it's taken effect immediately.

;)

Did you have to SORN it first?

Fortunately mine is registered just a few months prior to the April 2017 cut off so would only change to £20 PA. I could still re-tax it for 12 months to save a few pennies though ;)

I pay enough VED as it is so see this as a small win! 😅

Great news, if you lease a EV from a lazy ar£e Company who hold the log book. Awaiting the bill for the tax and the obligatory admin charge for them to pay it "for me"

Tossers........

I think you might....out of interest I just tried to tax my already taxed car....it would not let me unless I was a new owner. So I guess you need to sorn it first and then retax it.

Apparently, so I've been told. You don't, need to Sorn it first. You don't even need your Tax reminder. Just your Log book. I'm gonna do it next month, so I hope they are right, we'll see. 🙂👍

So I did this last year when the £195 was announced. Changed the renewal date of our ev6 to March 25 from July 25. No sorn, no difficulty, so will pay the £0 nxt month and have another year free. And have recently had the dvla reminder to tax the car so it is all good👍

I've just re-taxed the BMW i3. So now it is double taxed. They did warn me on the Gov website that I still had tax until July and that I may be paying to much...
My maths kicked in and worked out that 2 x £0 = £0...so my car is now taxed until Feb 2026😁
I figured they must spot this 'hack' soon, so have gone with free tax from this month and not pushed it until the end March. We'll see!

Dear Rachel,

I am writing this E Mail in order to "Dob In" the Perpetrators of an Outrageous Tax Dodge!

 ;):p:thumb:
I thought Dobin was a horse? But then Muffin the Mule was still allowed as a kids TV show when I was a lad....:dk:
