This and that.
What does a Telephone Pre-wire option consist of, and what is needed in addition to make it operational?

TIA

It consists of a UHI connection, looms from there to antenna and phone controller. Fibre connection to head unit/AGW, microphone(s), coding.

There are kits available ;-)

Yeah, I know. Can't think where to get them from though... ;)

The question is; what's in the kit. Just a cradle?

You need the pre-wire installed first. Then you can plug in a cradle - they are separate things.

Yep, as Bill says.

I'll PM you some ideas.

I sort of guessed that ;)

New version of question:

If I buy a car with pre-wire, what do I need to get a handsfree mobile working?

There you are; that wasn't hard was it? ;) :D

Thanks Bill. That's what I was hoping. MB only, I presume...

Nope. You could use a Viseeo MBU-2000 if its UHI pre-wired or Viseeo MBU-1000 if its got the fixed Nokia 6150,6210 or 6310 type cradle.

They come up on eBay all the time though (as people change their phones). The bluetooth ones are more expensive but I personally prefer the normal cradle type as it charges the phone.

Or the fixed cradle I have for sale if it is a 6230i/6230/6220 :bannana:

How can you tell if your comand is pre wired to take a phone?...when your phone rings how friendly is the car comand to that?...ie does the stero turn down? where is the mic located? does the voice come through the car hi fi etc?

If you have UHI prewire you will find a little plug like this
