Terrible experience with a local independent

So indeed, always expect the unexpected, and fully agree with the chap who said expect things to go wrong, but be pleasantly surprised if something goes right!
Good morning,
I started reading your post and thought, 'Oh no.... Hear we go again, another rant about incompetent dealers!'

How wrong could I be.

Well done for submitting the post....and Ouch! What an awful shock.

Nice first post and welcome to a sometimes very nice, friendly forum.

Yours sincerely
John

Thanks for the welcome John. Did have a laugh at how uptight some were getting!

Have been pottering about on the car today, didnt realise there were puddle lamps in the door bottoms, both fronts were not working. I thought maybe was a wiring problem, but replaced bulbs and now they are working.

Only job I have to do is tidy up the towbar and sockets, which are a bit scruffy.

Going back to this thread subject, a few years ago my regular mechanic died whilst he was working on my old VW. I felt terrible contacting his wife but I needed the van by a certain date (!) ,and it was really awful for everyone involved. But then how inconvenient!? (I know he would find it all very amusing.)

Talk about circumstances beyond our control, and third parties...

Good morning Weeble,
I have a wicked sense of humour and sadly I am still chuckling at the use of the words, 'died' 'contacting' and then using the  thingie.

I sympathise with you though regarding the circumstances and that could not have been very pleasant. :o :o

If you are still in contact with  .... Can you send him my regards and tell him I'll see him in 30 or 40 years time! :) :) (who wants to go and spend the rest of their years with a bunch of straight laced angels??)

There are some very good independents that frequent this forum, we have experts in just about every specialist field regarding our complex vehicles and hopefully I will be meeting one such person next week! :) :bannana:

Regards
John
