Hi all. I have a R320 which seems to have TERRIBLE headlights on it. I have tried two replacements (done by local MB specialist) so the standard MB options are not helping.I know the LED ones are frowned on now, MOT failure etc, but I don't much care about that so long as they are not unsafe for other road users, which I would check before using. Any ideas or recommendations for a decent pair of headlight bulbs please, LED or otherwise, but a lot brighter than the standard ones? (Its not the beam pattern either, they are just DULL as hell. Unsafe without main beam on country roads)
thanks

Wow, thanks both of you. I am looking at both, either of you have an idea which is brightest?! (I don't tend to believe the marketing fluff when I have real people to ask!)
thanks again, much appreciated

Thanks. I assume these are not HIDs, just out of interest, do you have any experience of those and are they brighter?

If you don't have headlight wash and levelling, HID's are illegal. equally, if your headlights are made for filament bulbs, LED's are illegal and will give a bad beam pattern. I've found Nightbreaker Ultimates very good, and they seem to be lasting!

Sorry to say I honestly don't have a clue!

The D2S bulbs are Xenon HID bulbs for cars that had that option (different headlamps completely to halogen type)

Not sure how to find out. Will do some googling. I have never changed bulbs on an R Class

If you can adjust the level of the lights you've halogens, if they self-level when you switch them on you'll have xenons.

Our 163 ML has terrible lights, on dip they are dangerously bad on unlit roads! I tried all the bulbs you can think of, night breakers, Philips +1million but none made much difference. We put it down to a bad reflector design, the only upgrade that worked was a xenon/HID kit.

I have just had a look, it has an adjuster under the headlight switch. The attached pic is exactly what it looks like. I take it that means I have halogens? Not actually sure where that puts me, does it mean I have no choice but to try the aforementioned aftermarkets like Osrams etc?

Is that Nightbreaker Ultimate or "Unlimited"?

Sorry Gaz, are you saying go for the Ring 130s? Will they fit mine? IF so I will take that vote and grab a pair of dipped ones

Assuming they're H7 ?
